I almost didn’t go because I was scared and thought I would be judged for the decision I made. I wasn’t. Instead I received much needed closure. Relief of guilt and self hatred. Please take the opportunity to invest in your healing. I went to the retreat a pretty miserable person and came out with a healed soul. The retreat helped me to love myself again!

It was very intense but very beautiful. The silent but deep pain on Friday morning was transformed into peaceful hope by Sunday evening. I have never seen the Holy Spirit work in such a way, and it has given me new insight into how God works on souls.

I was suspicious of the entire world and I was fighting this battle alone. But the retreat was a safe haven. God touched that part of me that had died and brought it back to life. I started to feel. I cannot begin to describe in words the immense healing and transformation that happened to me and in everyone that participated in the retreat.

God wants healing for all his children. Those suffering from the emotional aftermath of abortion or other pregnancy loss live in secret pain. We host Rachel’s Vineyard weekend healing retreats. There, in a confidential and safe place, they encounter the love and forgiveness of God, with the help of a compassionate group of facilitators, including a priest and a licensed therapist, who have experienced both the pain of loss and the joy of God’s redemptive Grace.  Our ministry has hosted more than 40 retreats, and gently guides them through the weekend’s meditations to help them encounter God on a deep and profoundly personal level.

A Message from Rachel’s Vineyard Founder, Dr. Theresa Burke

What People Are Saying ...

I almost didn't attend the retreat due to anxiety of the unknown. I was uncomfortably comfortable with my trauma and pain, and was nervous that addressing it could potentially worsen it or be scary. I received a lot of peace from the weekend retreat. I still have sadness and pain at times, but I also have a greater understanding of why I have those feelings when they arise. Additionally, it gives you a chance to bond with others who have been in similar situations, and feel supported in your healing journey. I would say to take the leap and give it a try. You may be surprised just how many areas of your life and soul are touched by healing afterwards.

Listening to that inner voice that kept telling me, " I don't need that. I'm good" almost kept me from attending Rachel's  Vineyard. The reality was I was no where near good. Because of Rachel's Vineyard, I have found peace and love/acceptance of myself. I am no longer a prisoner of my past. I would tell anyone struggling with the decision to attend, don't fight the battle by yourself. There is healing for your sorrow, pain, spirit, and soul. God loves you. He is waiting with open arms to give you his grace and mercy.

I thought I was only coming along to support my wife. But when our first meeting started, I realized that it was for me. I got as much of a blessing out of it myself, just to see how God was working miracles and lives were transformed before our eyes. Even though I wasn't involved in my wife's abortion, God placed it in my heart to share this healing with her and claim this child as my own. God will truly bless you as you share your pain and allow Him to heal you. Believe me, by the end of the retreat your lives will never be the same. You are delivered from that dead life.

I almost didn’t attend because I thought I could continue handling the pain myself. I was also afraid of opening the wound of my 2 abortions, afraid of what I might find out. But ever since my healing retreat, I've soared because the truth set me free. Connecting the dots of my unresolved grief and shame allowed me to move forward. The retreat is life changing. The Divine Healer wants you to experience love, mercy, forgiveness, and make you whole again.

Everyone Can Experience the Love, Mercy and Forgiveness of God

At RV4Hope, Inc, a 501(c)3, we know that you want to strengthen the culture of life.

The problem is you want to make a difference but you feel angry, frustrated, discouraged, and helpless facing the abortion industry.

We believe that many people don’t understand the effects of abortion trauma or what they can do to help.

We understand because we identify with the spiritual, emotional, mental, and psychological wounds of abortion.

We believe God wants healing for all His children, which is why we host powerful Rachel’s Vineyard weekend healing retreats.

In a confidential and safe place, retreatants encounter the love and forgiveness of God. With the help of a compassionate group of facilitators, including a priest and a licensed therapist, they experience the joy of God’s redemptive Grace.

Rachel’s Vineyard is one of the largest abortion healing ministries in the world, hosting over 1,000 retreats a year in over 70 countries. RV4Hope (Rachel’s Vineyard Richmond) has hosted more than 40 retreats.

Here’s how you can help:

Stop being hopeless and overwhelmed by the culture of death and instead, with compassion and empathy for post-abortive people, help transform the culture of death into a culture of life, one life at a time.

I almost didn’t attend because of the fear of the unknown and what to expect. But my benefits have been remarkable. I received freedom from the bondage of pain linked to abortion. And total healing, forgiveness for myself and the knowing that God has forgiven me. A sense of self worth and the opportunity for a new beginning for my life. A closeness and stronger relationship with the Lord. This will be one of the most life changing things you will ever do for yourself. It is beyond worth it.

I did not attend a Rachel's Vineyard retreat for 38 years. I never thought it would be something I could do -- the shame, the guilt, the exposure, the pain. But I realized a lot of what had happened to me in my life was directly related to the trauma of my abortion (a word that I could barely say). The retreat was life changing! I can truly love my living daughter now. Please attend. You will never regret it. It opened my heart and it will open yours.

About the Retreat

During a retreat weekend, the retreatants begin their healing journey and experience God’s love and mercy through engaging in guided Living Scripture exercises, bonding with other women and men who have experienced the trauma of abortion, and receiving resources and support them after the retreat.

The retreat team interacting with the retreatants during the retreat typically consists of 5-7 team members, including ordained clergy and a licensed therapist.

We also offer a free 14-week virtual aftercare program to help the retreatants stay on their healing path.

When

We hold two weekend retreats per year — one in the spring and one in the fall.
Each retreat starts at 10:30 AM Friday morning and ends approximately 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.

Click the “I Want to Help” button to volunteer to help with the next retreat.

Where

We host our retreats at a retreat center in the greater Richmond, VA, area.

So Many Ways You Can Help…

There are a lot of moving parts and background work that goes into a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat. Here are just some of the ways you can help:

  • Become a prayer partner
  • Setup the day before the retreat (a Thursday). This typically takes 8-10 people a full day (from about 9:00 AM typically through 6:00 PM).
  • Making specialized gifts given to the retreatants during the retreat.
  • Financial assistance, including scholarships for retreatants.
  • And much more.

How Much Does Hosting a Retreat Cost?

We charge the retreatants $325 for the entire weekend ($525 for married couples). That cost includes lodging in a private room for two nights, seven meals, the retreat program, and the opportunity for a private counseling session with the team’s licensed counselor and the clergy. And we offer financial assistance for those who can’t afford it — we do not want money to be an obstacle to anyone’s healing.

However, this does not cover overhead costs associated with the retreat.

Click the “I Want to Help” button to donate to the ministry or provide a full or partial scholarship for a retreatant.
